I am Beverley and I am Ted's Bears. I named it so, not just because of my love of bears but my Grandfather's name was Ted (short for Edward). We also named our dog Ted as well, so it seemed only right.
As a child I loved a teddy, and my Tiny Tears doll, I had a pushchair to push them all around in.
Later in life I met my first Artist bear, Lynford. It was 1997, he was £105, expensive, but he captured me, he was heavy and looked quite sad. I thought he would be my one and only, but then just 6 months later I met another in a little side street shop, she also had some weight about her and looked a little upset, I used the excuse that she would make a companion for Lynford.
Anyway, the rest is history, my collection grew.
I then started to repair some old bears I found in a shop on Ross on Wye, they were sat in an old pram, so I bought a few of them, my next stop was the sewing shop to pick up some threads so I could help the little fellas. My passion was growing at speed and before long I began to hunt for them. I bought some books on bears and was You-tube'ing how to replace bear eyes, and looking for mohair fabric.
I'm actually a Bookkeeper and have worked freelance doing so since 1997. During lockdown i was stuck at my desk, constantly! Even though I was glad to be working, it took its toll on me mentally and phyaically ! Once the covid 19 lockdowns were over, I decided to explore my hobby and set up a business, trading bears and most of all, restoring and repairing other people's treasured teddies.
So here I am, I love it!! .
